Helicopter and boat crews are scouring the Port of Savannah in search of crewmember who fell overboard from a containership in the Georgia seaport on Tuesday.The U.S. Coast Guard said its watchstanders at Sector Charleston were notified at approximately 3 a.m., Tuesday by Georgia Ports Authority that a 70-year-old man was missing from the Maersk Tukang.The crewmember did not resurface after falling into the water from a gangway while boarding the Singapore-flagged ship, a Coast Guard spokesperson told MarineLink.

South Korea-based ballast water management system manufacturer Techcross said its discontinued ECS-A system has been approved in addition to Techcross ECS in the updated approval status of U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Marine Safety Center (MSC). This means that Techcross, which sells electrolysis-based ECS and ECS-HYCHLOR, has also obtained a new USCG type approval for ECS-A, which is the initial model of ECS.ECS-A received International Maritime Organization (IMO) basic approval the first in the world in 2006. Since then, as ECS-B has been developed with simplified design and expanded processing capacity range, Techcross stopped producing the ECS-A in 2012.

Four individuals have been charged for their roles in a conspiracy to sell phony U.S. Coast Guard merchant mariner credentials in Norfolk, Va., the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced Monday.According to allegations in the unsealed indictment, Lamont Godfrey, 42, of Portsmouth, Va.;, Eugene Johnson, 45, of Norfolk; Shunmanique Willis, 43, of Texas; and Alonzo Williams, 45, of Louisiana, acted in concert to create counterfeit certificates from the Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy (MAMA) and sell them to merchant mariners for a profit. The MAMA is a private maritime training center, offering mariners over 100 U.S.
