The U.S. Coast Guard on Thursday medevaced a crewmember from the offshore support vessel RMS Citation approximately seven miles offshore Corpus Christi, Texas.Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received a request for medevac for a 45-year-old male who was experiencing arm pain and shortness of breath. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac."We are grateful we were able to get the mariner to the medical attention he needed," said Lt. Jake Conrad, Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 aircraft commander. "It was a team effort between both crews involved.

The European Commission has approved a €600 million ($668.1 million) Finnish aid scheme to support maritime companies impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.The aid scheme will take the form of State guarantees on working capital loans and will be accessible to maritime operators that are essential for maintaining the security of supply to Finland during the coronavirus outbreak. The funds are intended to help these firms cover immediate working capital needs, maintain employment and have sufficient liquidity to continue their activities. The measure will be directly operated by the Finnish State Treasury.

Bollinger Quick Repair, LLC, a Bollinger Shipyards LLC company, has taken delivery of a new 3,400 ton dry-dock.Built at Bollinger Shipyard’s Amelia, La. facility, the dock is now in service and measures 219’7” X 84’, with a wing wall depth of 15’, and is rated for 3,400 tons, said Bollinger President & CEO, Ben Bordelon.The dry-dock is named in honor of long-time Bollinger employee Eddie Barnes, Jr., who joined Bollinger Shipyards on June 29, 1972 and during his tenure with the company has held various key production positions such as Dockmaster, Foreman and Superintendent. "I want to congratulate Mr. Eddie Barnes, an outstanding Bollinger employee of 47 years," Bordelon said.

Norway's Westcon Yards says it entered into a new agreement with the Norwegian Armed Forces for the maintenance of Coast Guard vessels."This is an important agreement for us," says Georg Matre, ship repair officer at Westcon Yards, pointing out that the first maintenance agreement with the Armed Forces came into place in 2016. The latest agreement, now valid for an additional three years, concerns the maintenance of seven Coast Guard vessels."Our maintenance work for the Coast Guard mainly includes classing, which is docking and reviewing of machinery, valves, pipes, fittings and other equipment to ensure that the vessels meet the standard they are supposed to.
