yesterday
Singapore’s Seatrium has received a notice of arbitration from Maersk Offshore Wind’s affiliate, regarding the dispute over the termination of a $475 million contract for a nearly completed wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) originally intended for Equinor’s Empire Wind 1 project in the United States. The arbitration notice, received on October 21, comes just one day after Seatrium Energy (International) (SEI), a subsidiary of Seatrium, informed the buyer that the vessel would be ready for delivery by January 30, 2026.

50 Years of Women in Navy Diving: Advancing Opportunity in Tandem with Technology

BY Captain Bobbie Scolley, U.S. Navy (ret.) and Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet, U.S. Navy (ret.)For more than six decades, spanning from 1905 to the late 1970s, the U.S. Navy’s diving apparatus for deep ocean operations and salvage remained fundamentally unchanged. During this period, the demographic of navy divers also saw little alteration. However, beginning in the mid-1970s and continuing to the present day, a series of developments initiated a gradual transformation in both areas with significant implications for contemporary Navy diving.

The backers of a proposed 800-mile (1,287 km) gas pipeline in Alaska championed by U.S. President Donald Trump expect to complete a key engineering and cost study by the end of this year, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said on Monday. The ambitious proposal to transport gas from Alaska's far north to the Gulf of Alaska has been talked about for decades but has received new impetus under Trump, who has sought to boost U.S. development of fossil fuels. The pipeline is a joint venture between U.S. energy developer Glenfarne and the state of Alaska's Alaska Gasline Development Corporation.

LPG-Laden Tanker on Fire Off Yemen

The LPG-laden tanker MV Falcon was on fire and adrift on Saturday off the coast of Yemen, after it reported an explosion that forced members of its crew to abandon the vessel, the European Union's naval force Aspides said in a statement. The cause of the explosion was unclear but most likely an accident, according to initial indications, Aspides said. It added that at least 15% of the Cameroon-flagged vessel was on fire.Due to the risk of further explosions, since the tanker was fully loaded with liquefied petroleum gas, Aspides advised vessels in the area to keep a safe distance from the carrier."The fire onboard is increasing," Aspides said in a statement.

Dual Pre-FEED Wins Propel ECOnnect’s LNG IQuay Regas Terminal

ECOnnect Energy has signed two pre-Front End Engineering and Design (pre-FEED) contracts for its IQuay Regas Terminal, a modular floating regasification system designed to offer faster, more flexible alternatives to conventional onshore and floating LNG terminals. The IQuay Regas Terminal combines a Floating Storage Unit (FSU), a modular floating regasification platform known as the R-Class, and either subsea or floating pipelines for high-pressure gas transfer to shore. The system’s compact, scalable architecture is aimed at accelerating LNG import readiness in regions facing infrastructure and energy security challenges.
