Delivery of Next-Gen Subsea Vessel from Turkish Shipyard Hits Delay
The delivery of the next-generation construction support vessel (CSV), under construction at Turkish Sefine Shipyard for Norway’s Eidesvik Offshore and Agalas, has been delayed for later in 2026.The delivery of the CSV, which will feature a battery hybrid system and be capable of operating on methanol, has been rescheduled from early 2026 to the third quarter of the same year.The vessel, named Viking Vigor, will be owned by an entity to be named Eidesvik Agalas AS, where Eidesvik will be the majority owner with 50.1%.The newbuild will be equipped to perform inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) work for subsea and offshore wind markets.The vessel will span 99.
Alaska LNG Pipeline Study Will Be Completed This Year
The backers of a proposed 800-mile (1,287 km) gas pipeline in Alaska championed by U.S. President Donald Trump expect to complete a key engineering and cost study by the end of this year, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said on Monday.The ambitious proposal to transport gas from Alaska's far north to the Gulf of Alaska has been talked about for decades but has received new impetus under Trump, who has sought to boost U.S. development of fossil fuels.The pipeline is a joint venture between U.S. energy developer Glenfarne and the state of Alaska's Alaska Gasline Development Corporation.
LPG-Laden Tanker on Fire Off Yemen
The LPG-laden tanker MV Falcon was on fire and adrift on Saturday off the coast of Yemen, after it reported an explosion that forced members of its crew to abandon the vessel, the European Union's naval force Aspides said in a statement.The cause of the explosion was unclear but most likely an accident, according to initial indications, Aspides said. It added that at least 15% of the Cameroon-flagged vessel was on fire.Due to the risk of further explosions, since the tanker was fully loaded with liquefied petroleum gas, Aspides advised vessels in the area to keep a safe distance from the carrier."The fire onboard is increasing," Aspides said in a statement.

South Korea’s HMM Places $2.8B Order for 14 New Ships
South Korea’s largest shipping company HMM has ordered 12 new 13,000 TEU-class eco-friendly container ships from Korean shipbuilders, as well as two very large container ships, for a total of $2.82 billion.The 12 containerships will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hanwha Ocean, and all of them will be LNG-fueled vessels, HMM said.The details for the other two very large containerships, reportedly ordered by the company, have not been disclosed.According to the company, this large-scale order is the company’s first such investment since 2018.In 2018, HMM placed a $2.
