GoodFuels Commences Biofuel Bunkering in Singapore
Biofuels supplier GoodFuels announced it has supplied sustainable marine biofuel to NYK’s bulk carrier Frontier Explorer, in the first such delivery to a major maritime client since the company opened its Singapore office.Frontier Explorer was refueled with biofuel in a blend with VLSFO during its port call to Singapore on July 5, en route from Australia to India.The delivery was the first to be managed under GoodFuels’ partnership with ITOCHU, which was announced in May. ITOCHU was responsible for logistics, blending and distribution of the biofuel blend, while GoodFuels handled sourcing, technical expertise and sales, including working closely with NYK’s technical and commercial team.

Shell's Giant Prelude FLNG Unit to Remain Shut for Longer as Pay Dispute Continues
Unions at Shell Plc's Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) site off Australia have extended industrial action to Sept. 1 over a long-running pay dispute, the company said on Thursday. Shell shut down the 3.6-million-tonne-a-year site in July and told customers it would be unable to supply LNG cargoes for the duration of work stoppages approved by Australia's Fair Work Commission, or Protected Industrial Action (PIA). "We can confirm it's been renewed until Sept. 1," a Shell spokesperson said of the protected industrial action.

Boskalis Lifts Profit Outlook as Demand for Offshore Wind Grows
Dutch dredging and marine services firm Boskalis on Thursday slightly raised its 2022 profit outlook after a half-year earnings beat, as the West seeks to replace Russian gas with other energy sources.The group, which offers marine services and contracting for the oil and gas sector and offshore wind industry, reported core profit (EBITDA) of 292 million euros ($297 million) in the first six months of the year, against analysts' average estimate of 279 million euros. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has prompted European countries to reduce their reliance on Russian gas and turn to alternative energy sources

Port of Aberdeen: Offshore Renewable Charging Hub in the Works for Idle Vessels
Stillstrom, an offshore charging company recently launched by Maersk Supply Service, said Thursday it would collaborate with Port of Aberdeen on a project aimed at cutting emissions from vessels on standby outside the port.Stillstrom and Port of Aberdeen will conduct a joint feasibility study into an innovative offshore renewable charging hub. "The ocean clean-tech concept provides a platform for vessels to utilize electricity from either offshore wind or grid-energy, thereby eliminating the need for vessels to consume fossil fuels while idling. The product also allows for the charging of battery packs on applicable vessels," the company said.

Seven Charged with Labor Racketeering in the Port of San Juan
On August 11, 2022, a federal grand jury in the District of Puerto Rico returned an indictment charging seven defendants with running a criminal enterprise dedicated to extorting and misleading shipping companies into paying fees for the loading and unloading of cargo at the Port of San Juan—Piers 9, 10, and 11—under the threat of strikes and blockades on the part of union members of the ILA-1740 of the International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO (ILA) and under false representations that companies had to pay a fee in order to be able to use “union-free labor” for the loading and unloading of cargo, announced W. Stephen Muldrow, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico.
