A 5,593-gross-ton containership Ocean Abundance allided with a dock in Manila, causing significant damage to the vessel's hull and the pier.The Philippine-flagged feeder box ship, owned by Oceanic Container Lines Incorporated, rammed and damaged approximately five to 10 meters of Pier 2, North Harbor, Manila at around 3:10 a.m. on Monday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).The ship's crew told the PCG that the incident was caused by an engine problem that reportedly prevented the 124-meter-long ship from being able to move in reverse.PCG said it is monitoring the situation, but so far it has reported no injuries or spilled oil in the area.

Norden announced Tuesday it has added two bulk carriers to an existing newbuilding contract with shipbuilder Nantong Cosco Khi Ship Engineering Co. (NACKS), taking the total order to six vessels.The Danish shipowner said it has already sold two of the six vessels on sale and lease back terms, freeing up liquidity. The newbuilds are scheduled to be delivered from 2022.In addition, Norden said it bought a secondhand 2014 built Supramax bulk carrier scheduled to join its fleet in September. The ship was also built at NACKS, a shipbuilding joint venture between China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd.

Russia's Nevsky Shipyard has launched the second and final cargo-passenger vessel as part of the PV22 project.The newbuild Pavel Leonov, launched on August 6, is the second vessel in the series of two dry cargo-passenger vessel carriers ordered by Sakhalinlizingflot in August 2018. The series' lead vessel, Admiral Nevelskoy, was launched in May.The 75-meter-long vessels are each designed to transport 146 passengers, general cargo, containers (including refrigerated) and cars between Sakhalin Island and the Kuril Islands and is equipped with a cargo crane with the ability to perform cargo operations on an unequipped shore.

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore has secured more work for three of its offshore vessels in Australia, following a recently announced deal with BP.As previously reported, Solstad offshore earlier in August said BP would use two anchor handling tug and supply vessels Normand Saracen and Far Senator, along with the platform supply vessel Normand Leader to support its Ironbark drilling campaign. The vessels are expected to start their BP work in the fourth quarter of 2020.The Solstad vessel trio is now expected to stay in Australia throughout 2021 as the company on Tuesday said it had won more work for the vessels with an undisclosed oil company.
