A passenger is missing after reportedly jumping from a ferry that was underway in the Oakland Estuary on Sunday afternoon.A witness alerted the captain of the 400-passenger ferry Carina, who immediately turned the vessel around to initiate rescue procedures, San Francisco Bay Area's Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) said.The ferry crew contacted the authorities and remained on scene until first responders arrived, WETA said.Oakland Fire Department was first on scene, and the U.S. Coast Guard also deployed two vessels to assist in search and rescue efforts. The overboard passenger has not been recovered, authorities said.

Alfa Laval said its FCM Methanol will be the low-flashpoint fuel supply system (LFSS) on six 1170 TEU containerships ordered by Eastaway, a member of the X-Press Feeders Group. The new vessel series, to be built at Chinese shipyards Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd and New Dayang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, will have two-stroke MAN B&W ME-LGIM engines that can run on methanol as well as conventional fuels. Bennett is a licensed professional engineer with more than three decades of transportation industry experience.Bennett joined JAXPORT in 2017 as senior director of engineering and construction, responsible for the port’s marine and landside infrastructure development and engineering and construction operations. In this role, he managed the completion of JAXPORT’s major growth projects, including the 47-foot harbor deepening project, a $100 million berth modernization project, and renovations to improve operational efficiencies at the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal.
