Israel on Sunday broadened its search for the ship behind an oil spill that blackened its beaches with tar after investigators ruled out one of the suspected tankers.An Israeli team, in coordination with Greek authorities, carried out a surprise inspection of the Minerva Helen while it was docked at Athens’ Piraeus port. The ship is no longer suspected of being responsible for the spill, said Israel’s Ministry of Environmental Protection.Minerva Helen’s operator had denied any connection to the oil spill.Israel’s investigation has focused on an unidentified ship that passed about 50 kilometers off the coast on Feb.

TORM said on Monday it has entered into an agreement to purchase eight MR product tankers with chemical trading capabilities from TEAM Tankers in a partly share-based transaction.The deal, which includes a total cash consideration of $82.5 million and the issuance of 5.97 million shares, will increase TORM’s total fleet to 83 vessels.The eight vessels are all built at the Croatian shipyard Brodotrogir from 2007 through 2012, and six of them have specialized cargo tank configurations and extended tank segregations (IMO 2), allowing for enhanced trading flexibility through chemical trading options, while still being able to work integrated in the existing One TORM operational platform.

Norwegian/Swedish shipping company Wallenius Wilhelmsen said it will reactivate another three vessels, bringing to 12 number of ships it is planning to return to service after placing 15 car carriers in cold lay-up due to difficult market conditions amid the COVID-19 outbreak last spring.The company said the trio is expected to resume operations in June and July amid growing demand together with rising rates and lack of capacity in the time charter market. Satellite data company Spire Global Inc said on Monday it has agreed to go public through a merger with blank-check acquisition firm NavSight Holdings Inc at a $1.6 billion valuation.It is the latest example of a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merging with a company in the space industry, following deals for the likes of space tourism company Virgin Galactic and rocket startup Astra.Spire said it expects the deal will provide it with up to $475 million in proceeds. NavSight is providing $230 million of this, with the rest coming from a private investment in public equity (PIPE) transaction.
