Taiwanese shipping line Evergreen has confirmed its plans to build a total of ten 23,000 TEU containerships.According to a stock exchange filing, the new vessels would be built at three shipyards  in South Korea and China.According to the reports from the South China Morning Post, the enormous order will cost Evergreen anywhere between US$1.4 billion and US$1.6 billion. It is estimated that each vessel will cost between $140 million and $160 million.The new vessels could see Evergreen become the sixth biggest carrier line in the world, overtaking major Japanese alliance Ocean Network Express (ONE).

Russia's first-floating nuclear power plant has arrived to its permanent base near an isolated Russian town across the Bering Strait from Alaska, Russian state nuclear energy company Rosatom said on Saturday.Developed by Rosatom, the plant, known as "Akademik Lomonosov", set off on a 5,000 km (3,100 mile) journey on Aug. 23 through Arctic waters to reach the Chukotka region. Rosatom said it aims to make the floating station operational by the year-end. It would become the world's northernmost nuclear power station.The plant will replace a coal-fired power plant and an aging nuclear power plant supplying more than 50,000 people with electricity in Chukotka.

General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) appointed General Dynamics NASSCO president Kevin Graney as president of General Dynamics Electric Boat, effective October 1. David J. Carver, NASSCO’s vice president and general manager of repair, will succeed Graney as president of General Dynamics NASSCO.  Jeffrey S. Geiger, who has served as president of Electric Boat since 2013, will retire effective September 30.Graney began his shipbuilding career with General Dynamics Electric Boat in 1995 as a senior engineer for the Virginia-class submarine program and worked in various leadership roles at General Dynamics before becoming president of NASSCO in 2017.

Greek diversified owner and operator of ocean going cargo vessels DryShips announced that further to its plan to future proof its fleet, it has completed the dry-docking, installation of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) and scrubbers on 7 vessels.DryShips has incurred approximately $26.1 million of total costs and 300 off-hire days future Proofing of the its fleet."Within 2020, we expect to continue to execute our plan to upgrade additional vessels and we expect to incur approximately 843 off-hire days for a total estimated cost of $65.8 million," said a release from the company.
