Israeli container shipping company ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. said that during the month of October it purchased seven secondhand containerships amid continued high demand and vessel shortages.The vessels, purchased in a number of separate transactions, were built between 2007-2009 and include five 4,250 TEU vessels and two 1,100 TEU vessels, for a total consideration of approximately $320 million, ZIM said.Eli Glickman, ZIM President & CEO, said, “Since going public our focus has been to allocate capital to strengthen our commercial prospects and create long-term shareholder value.

Bollinger Shipyards has delivered the newest Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter (FRC), the USCGC John Scheuerman, to the U.S. Coast Guard in Key West, Fla. nearly one week ahead of schedule despite a three week shutdown due to the significant damage sustained to Bollinger’s facilities during Hurricane Ida. The storm made landfall in late August near Port Fourchon, La. as a Category 4 storm. Bollinger’s facilities in Port Fourchon, Lockport, Houma and Larose suffered significant damage as a result of Hurricane Ida, which tied with last year’s Hurricane Laura and the Last Island Hurricane of 1856 as the strongest on record in Louisiana.

Olso-listed bulk carrier operator Belships said Friday it had secured charters for two of its vessels.Belships said the period time charter contracts secured were for a period of about 23-25 months at a gross rate of USD 25 500 per day per vessel. The contracts are expected to start from the beginning of November 2021.The company, which will have a fleet of 30 Supramax/Ultramax bulk carriers with an average age of 4 years, once all announced transactions are completed, did not say who the client was for the two vessels, nor which vessels exactly had secured the charters.
