Russian warships entered the Barents Sea on Wednesday to rehearse protecting a major shipping lane in the Arctic, its Northern Fleet said on Wednesday, as Moscow stages sweeping military exercises involving all of its fleets.Russian military moves are being closely watched by the West at a time when a troop build-up near its border with Ukraine has sparked fears of a conflict. Moscow has denied it plans to launch an attack on Ukraine.Moscow said last week it would stage a series of drills involving all its fleets in the seas directly adjacent to Russia.
Despite the prolonged COVID-19, Techcross reports that it has kicked off the new year with a new record in earnings and a sales growth.As of the third week of January, Techcross sold Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) for 81 ships, representing already its largest January sales revenue with an order intake of $23 million, expected to exceed $26 million by the time the month is done.In addition, Techcorss finished Factory Acceptance Test (FATs ) for 93 ships also set a new monthly record for the company, and 83 ships already have reserved FATs in February with more expected, potentially pushing over the100 mark.
SHI reports that it has successfully developed an 'Onboard Carbon Capture' system which can be applicable to LNG fueled vessels with PANASIA, an eco-friendly and energy system expert, and received Approval in Principle from KR, Korean classification society, for the first time in Korea.This approved green technology separates and collects carbon dioxide among exhaust gas of LNG, which is burned in a ship engine or generator, using an Amine based liquid absorbent. SHI and PANASIA have jointly developed the technology since 2020, and SHI plans to continue its research and commercialization of the carbon capture technology by 2024, which is optimized for LNG fueled vessels.
Offshore wind turbine installation company Cadeler A/S said Thursday it had won an important contract with wind turbine maker Vestas, and entered a reservation agreement with an undisclosed client. "The agreements ensure optimal utilization of the Cadeler fleet before and after the crane upgrades in 2024. Offshore wind activity continues to strengthen, and the year has started well for Cadeler thanks to a new contract with Vestas," Cadeler said.Cadeler said that the contract strengthened its order backlog and ensured optimal utilization of the O-class vessels - Wind Orca and Wind Osprey - up until the planned vessel upgrades starting in the fourth quarter of 2023.
