The U.S. government has not received any requests to waive the Jones Act in response to the shutdown since Friday of the Colonial Pipeline due to a ransomware attack, a spokesman for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said on Monday.Washington has only rarely waived the Jones Act to help relieve fuel supply constraints. Mercy Ships announced that its newly built hospital ship Global Mercy has completed sea trials leading up to delivery, equipping, maiden voyage and launch into service to sub-Saharan Africa in 2022.The first-of-its-kind 174-meter vessel, designed by Finnish naval architect Deltamarin and built at the Tianjin Xingang Shipyard in China, is the world’s largest purpose-built civilian hospital ship. It has a beam of 28.6 meters, with a design draft of 6.15 meters and gross tonnage of 37,000.

The U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet said its guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) seized an illicit shipment of weapons from a stateless dhow in international waters of the North Arabian Sea on May 6-7.USS Monterey and its embarked U.S. Coast Guard Advanced Interdiction Team (AIT) discovered the illicit cargo during a routine flag verification boarding. The vessel was apparently sailing from Iran bound for Yemen to support the country’s Houthi rebels."The cache of weapons included dozens of advanced Russian-made anti-tank guided missiles, thousands of Chinese Type 56 assault rifles, and hundreds of PKM machine guns, sniper rifles and rocket-propelled grenades launchers.

Brazilian oil company Enauta has chartered an anchor handling tug and supply vessel from Norway's Solstad Offshore.Solstad Offshore said Tuesday it had struck a deal with Enauta for the charter of the 2006-built AHTS Normand Turmalina (previously known as BOS Turmalina).Enauta will continue using the vessel it first chartered back in August 2017 to support operations at its Atlanta oil field in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil.The contract is for 18 months firm, with Enauta having a 2-year extension option. The contract is expected to start in May 2021.The Atlanta field has been producing oil via Petrojarl I FPSO - as an early production system.
