Japan's NYK Line said Wednesday it had, as part of Diamond LNG Shipping 6 consortium, taken delivery of the Diamond Gas Victoria LNG gas carrier.The LNG carrier will transport LNG from British Columbia for the LNG Canada project, as well as from other locations around the world, under a long-term time-charter contract with Diamond Gas International, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), which has a stake in the LNG Canada project.The vessel was built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and is owned by NYK, Asia LNG Transport Dua Sdn. Bhd. (ALT Dua), and MC through the joint venture Diamond LNG Shipping 6 Pte. Ltd. The NYK Group will be responsible for ship management.
The U.S. Coast Guard on Thursday commissioned three new Fast Response Cutters at a ceremony presided over by Adm. Karl Schultz, the Coast Guard’s commandant.The Coast Guard Cutters Myrtle Hazard (WPC 1139), Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) and Frederick Hatch (WPC 1143) were commissioned during what the USCG said was a rare triple-commissioning ceremony at the new homeport at Coast Guard Forces Micronesia Sector Guam. Guam is an unincorporated territory of the United States in the North Pacific Ocean.
Silver Moon, Silversea Cruises' newest ship in its "ultra-luxury" fleet, was christened Thursday in Athens, Greece. The naming ceremony was held in the port of Piraeus.At 40,700 gross tons and with a maximum capacity of 596 guests, Silver Moon is the cruise line’s second Muse-class ship.Constructed by Fincantieri at its Ancona shipyard, Silver Moon is an evolution of her sister ship Silver Muse, Silversea Cruises said."The ship benefits from re-imagined public spaces, butler service in all suite categories, a nearly 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio, and Silversea’s hallmark small-ship intimacy," the company said.
Shipping giant Maersk is enhancing the service it offers from Mombasa, Kenya, to North Europe, specifically Felixstowe and Rotterdam, by providing a single transshipment product via Salalah, Oman.Maersk said that the ME7 service would connect Kenya’s exports via Salalah to Europe ensuring the cargo will flow smoothly without getting affected by unforeseen delays in case of congestion. The ME7 service will provide regular rotations between the hubs of Colombo and Salalah, letting customers have a more flexible option of moving their cargo."The changes in network are primarily aimed at providing higher predictability and offering more flexibility to customers’ supply chains.
Container ship opertor MPC Container Ships has entered into a $70 million three-year revolving credit facility agreement with CIT Group. The company said the loan had attractive terms.MPC Container Ships, registered in Oslo, Norway, said it had already made an initial drawdown of $40 million to refinance existing debt, and the rest would be used for vessel upgrades and other general purposes."As a consequence, the previous term loans with Beal Bank and CIT have been repaid in full. Further drawdowns under the facility will strengthen the free liquidity and may be used for vessel upgrades, investments or general corporate purposes," MPC Container Ships said.
