Kongsberg Maritime wins contract with Myklebust Verft to deliver innovative low-emission LFC for Sølvtrans.Kongsberg Maritime signed a $8.2m contract with Norwegian shipyard Myklebust Verft to design and equip a new Live Fish Carrier (LFC) for live fish transportation company Sølvtrans. The new 5,000m3 LFC will be built to KM’s new NVC 390 design, with a focus on reduced emissions and enhanced sustainability. The scope of Kongsberg's equipment package supply includes Promas propulsion, generators, thrusters, electrical systems and automation. To date, KM has designed eight LFCs for Sølvtrans, with six previously built or under construction at Myklebust Verft.
German shipping company UPT United Product Tankers GmbH & Co. KG said Matthias A. Schoeller has been named co-managing director, succeeding Stefan Ciegelski who will retire by the end of June.Schoeller, having worked as the company's chartering manager for the last 10 years, will serve as co-managing director alongside Christos Matarangas, who has been at the helm of UPT for over a decade already.Ciegelski departs UPT after nearly 45 years in shipping, including 17 as one of the firm's managing directors.

ClassNK released the latest version of its design support software PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) Ver.8.0.0 developed in response to the IACS Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (CSR BC & OT). The new version incorporates the latest rule amendments to CSR BC & OT including the ones based on feedback from the industry. In addition to the incorporation of the latest rule amendments, various functional improvements are implemented to PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR), which is composed of the prescriptive calculation software and direct strength assessment software, aiming to contribute to the efficiency of design work.
Haldor Topsoe and Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping formalized their collaboration by signing a Partnership Agreement whereas Topsoe becomes an official partner to the Center, committing to a long-term strategic collaboration about the development of zero carbon technologies for the maritime industry.The collaboration will depart in the conversion of renewable resources - such as biomass and green electricity – to energy carriers and fuels. Topsoe is also developing and industrializing solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) for highly efficient production of hydrogen by electrolysis of water.
