The U.S. Coast Guard is responding to the grounding of the 623-foot bulk carrier Algoma Verity approximately a mile north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in the Delaware River.At 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders received a report from the pilot aboard the Algoma Verity stating the vessel had run aground. No injuries or pollution have been reported.The vessel was northbound with a cargo of approximately 45,000 tons of solar salt when the incident occurred.Watchstanders deployed a Station Philadelphia 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew to the area.As of 8 a.m., Thursday, the vessel is currently aground outside the main shipping channel.

The union representing 45,000 dock workers on the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts and their employers on Wednesday said they reached a tentative deal on a new six-year contract, averting further strikes that could have snarled supply chains and taken a toll on the U.S. economy.The International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) employer group, in a joint statement, called the agreement a "win-win."
