A Singapore-flagged containership that lost at least 40 containers overboard off the coast of Sydney has been detained by authorities in the Port of Brisbane after Australian inspectors found inadequate lashing arrangements for cargo and heavily corroded securing points for containers on deck.APL England had been en route from Ningbo, China to Melbourne on Sunday when it rerouted to Brisbane after a temporary propulsion loss left the 277-meter vessel rolling in heavy seas and caused several container stacks to topple over about 73 kilometers south east of Sydney. The ship's master said 40 containers were lost into the sea and 74 more were damaged on board.

Ship management and services company V.Group announced that Paddy Rodgers has been appointed as a non-executive director.Rodgers had been CEO of Euronav for almost 20 years before stepping down from the post in 2019. Under his leadership Euronav grew from a family operation with 17 vessels to one of the largest international tanker companies with 73 vessels. He is currently Director at the Royal Museums Greenwich, England comprising of the Royal Observatory, Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum and Queen’s House.“I am honored to be joining V.Group at such a challenging and exciting time,” Rodgers said.

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has secured an order for three medium sized gas carriers (MGC) from Singapore's Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS).EPS says it has reached an agreement with Norwegian energy company Equinor for the time charter of three liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dual-fuel propulsion newbuilds, which are scheduled to be delivered in 2022.The three vessels will add to EPS' existing fleet of 11 vessels including the three LPG tankers acquired from Neu in September 2019 and the delivery of two MGCs from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard earlier this year.

Dubai's Drydocks World shipyard has cut first steel for the HVAC Transformer Station Topside, named Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) Beta.This is the third such unit that Drydocks World will be constructing for Petrofac and end-client TenneT, and the second project for the HKZ offshore wind farm, as it is also building the Beta HVAC substation.The HVAC platform will form part of a renewable energy wind farm, located in the HKZ grid connection in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. The topside will weigh approximately 3,700T and will have a connection capacity of 700MW.Drydocks World is responsible for production engineering, construction, and mechanical completion.
