Coastal Villages Pollock LLC is a significant player in the fishing industry based in Alaska. It operates under the umbrella of Coastal Villages Region Fund (CVRF), one of the Community Development Quota (CDQ) organizations in Alaska. The CDQ program was established to allocate a portion of the commercial fisheries revenue to communities in Western Alaska, with the intent of promoting economic development and providing economic opportunities for residents.

Coastal Villages Pollock LLC focuses primarily on the harvesting and processing of pollock, a type of fish plentiful in the Bering Sea. Pollock is highly valued for its use in products like fish fillets, surimi (imitation crab meat), and roe.

Under CVRF, Coastal Villages Pollock LLC aims to create jobs and support the economic well-being of the approximately 20 member communities it represents. The company’s activities contribute significantly to local economic development by providing employment opportunities both directly and through ancillary industries.

CVRF reinvests its earnings back into the communities it serves through various programs, including scholarships, job training, and infrastructure development. This approach helps to ensure that the benefits of resource extraction are shared with the residents of Western Alaska, fostering sustainable development in the region.

Overall, Coastal Villages Pollock LLC plays a critical role in both the fishing industry and in supporting the economic vibrancy and sustainability of Western Alaska communities.
