CD-adapco
CD-adapco was an engineering simulation software company that specialized in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE). The company was founded in 1980 as Computational Dynamics, and later merged with another company (Adapco) to become known as CD-adapco. It was headquartered in Melville, New York, and had offices around the world.
The company's flagship software products included STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+, which were used for simulating fluid flow, heat transfer, and associated physical phenomena. These tools were used by engineers across various industries, including automotive, aerospace, marine, energy, and manufacturing, to optimize product designs and improve engineering processes.
In 2016, Siemens acquired CD-adapco for $970 million. After the acquisition, CD-adapco became part of Siemens' Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software business, which integrated its technologies into Siemens' broader suite of digital solutions.
CD-adapco was known for its focus on providing high-quality customer support and training, as well as for its commitment to advancing the state of the art in simulation technology.
