Norway's Kongsberg Maritime on Tuesday showcased a new line of offshore ship designs in its UT Design portfolio. The new anchor handler (AHT) and platform supply vessels (PSV) have the option to include alternative energy sources and fuels, such as methanol, ammonia, and hybrid-battery power.The AHT and PSV designs have received Approval in Principle from class society DNV to operate with ammonia-fuelled engines and they can incorporate an offshore charging capable plug-in hybrid option, to enable emission-free battery-powered operation.

ONE Takes Delivery of its First 24,000-TEU Ship

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has taken delivery of its first 24,000-TEU container ship, ONE Innovation.The first of six Megamax class vessels, the 400-meter ONE Innovation was delivered by Japan Marine United Corporation’s Kure Shipyard.The vessel has a capacity of up to 24,136 TEU and will help bring economies of scale, says ONE. It features significantly lower carbon emissions through its hull design that aims to maximize cargo intake and minimize fuel consumption. The vessel is equipped with a bow windshield and an exhaust gas cleaning system to meet the emission regulations of IMO.It will be deployed on the Asia to Europe (FE3) service, under THE Alliance (THEA).

U.S. and British naval forces on Sunday came to the aid of a commercial ship that was "harassed" by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy in the the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. Navy said.Civilian crew aboard the merchant vessel reported three Iranian fast-attack craft with armed personnel approached and followed their vessel at close distance while it transited the narrow strait. The radio distress call was made at 4:56 p.m. local time.U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer USS McFaul (DDG 74) and U.K. Royal Navy frigate HMS Lancaster (F 229) both received the distress call, and Lancaster launched a helicopter to provide surveillance. U.S.
